We enter the eastern valley until the Sierras de Quéntar and La Peza already in the region of Guadix, one of the holes that form the rosary of depressions that are interspersed in the Betic Cordilleras, within a belt of mountains (Sierra Nevada, Sierra Of Baza, Sierra Arana and the Mencal) acquiring, due to its high average altitude, superior to the 900 m, almost the character of plateau. We now pass through the zenete region, with a landscape of contrasts between the slopes that prelude the Sierra Nevada and the arid lunar landscape of the Montes Orientales. Among the reddish hues of the Hoya de Guadix and the green valleys of the rivers that bathe the region, giving way to the Alpujarra, mountainous place and with sinuous roads, ideal for our activity. Due to their geography, especially mountainous, the villages have adapted to the unevenness, reason why their houses are staggered and oriented to the south, to take advantage of the good Mediterranean climate. The streets, cobbled and winding, invite to the walk, to breathe peace and tranquility. It really seems that time has stopped in the Alpujarra. We will leave by the valley of Lecrín that will take us back again to Granada. Come to know its valleys, its mountains, its culture, its gastronomy, do not miss it.

Longest climb: Port of La Ragua (+ 850m), 14 kilometers of climb to 6.1%.

Harder climb: Puerto de La Ragua (+ 850m), 14 kilometers of climb to 6.1%.

During the whole trip it is advisable to taste the gastronomy.

Important cultural heritage.

It passes through 33 villages.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1486471796570{background-color: #f5e4c7 !important;}”][vc_custom_heading text=”Ficha técnica” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]Road Type: Road Bike – Circular – Self-Guided

Departure: Granada (Andalusia)

Arrival: Granada (Andalusia)

Total distance: 251 km

Nº stages: 2-3 (choose your option)

Positive slope: 4640m

Maximum elevation: 850m

Max height: 2000m – 460m

Physical Difficulty: High-Very High[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row” parallax=”content-moving” parallax_image=”1319″][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1486471529331{background-color: rgba(246,231,202,0.82) !important;*background-color: rgb(246,231,202) !important;}”][vc_custom_heading text=”It includes” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]Accommodation in M / P according option (1-2 nights)

Route Information

Map + track path

Gift jersey

Gifts[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Not Included” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]Meals en route

What is not specified in the section includes[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1486471372888{background-color: rgba(224,199,166,0.84) !important;*background-color: rgb(224,199,166) !important;}”][vc_custom_heading text=”Additional services” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]Transportation baggage

GPS Rental

GPS locator hire

Accident insurance

Transfer from Airport

Guide

Pick-up service in case of abandonment

Telephone support[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_message message_box_style=”3d” message_box_color=”alert-warning”]So that you can come with your partner, family or friends not cyclists, we prepare for your companions all the necessary information so they can follow your route in parallel with an alternative plan, visits, gastronomy, culture and sport (hiking in different places adapted to The companions). An area of contrasts, with a rugged relief formed by valleys and ravines. By the Alpujarra have been passed Iberians, Celts, Romans and Visigoths, but it was the Muslims who left the greatest trace during his presence in the time of Al-Andalus. Not in vain, the Alpujarra was the place where the Nasrid kingdom was held after being defeated by the Catholic Monarchs in 1492. There the Moriscos remained for many more years, until they were finally expelled after the end of the Rebellion of the Alpujarras (1568-1.571) in which the Moorish population rose before the Pragmatic Sanction of 1567. In that edict, promulgated by Philip II, limited the religious and cultural freedoms of the Moors, to force them to abandon their customs and way of life to actually become Catholicism, or at least to appear. Today we see the reflection of the Muslim passage through the area in architecture, local cuisine, carpet weaving, agricultural landscape and, among other aspects, the presence of names of Arab origin.

What to see in La Alpujarra

Lanjarón (spa, castle), ravine of the poqueira (Panpaneira, Bubuón, Capileira), sour fountain, Trevélez (dryers of Ham), Busquistar, Valor, Pórtugos, Pitres. different regions of the province, crossing places of great historical-cultural and natural interest, along winding roads. We leave from Granada, center of the kingdom of Granada in the time of the Muslim occupation, accompanied by the Alhambra and other historical monuments dotted around the city. The impressive Andalusian legacy adds to the architectural gems of the Renaissance and to the most modern facilities of the 21st century. The fact that it was the last city reconquered by the Catholic Monarchs in 1492 gives Granada an unmistakable Arabic aroma. Its gastronomy, crafts and urbanism are determined by its glorious historical past. Fountains, viewpoints and Cármenes, the houses surrounded by gardens characteristic of this city, contribute to create unforgettable corners. Not in vain, one of its old neighborhoods, the Albaicín, is a World Heritage Site along with The Alhambra and the Generalife. Important cultural center for long centuries, both during Muslim and Christian government, currently enjoys an enviable cultural and leisure agenda. Accompanying us always the white water river, small, with a flow of which one could not think that it will form the great dam of Quéntar (13 cubic hectometres of capacity), constructed in years 70, one of the two that supply of water to the city from Granada. In its route through a sinuous and little frequented road, we find the ecosystems of a mountain river, with streams, waterfalls, rafts and wooded spaces, where points are still conserved in which the authentic vegetation of riverbank survives, although in the greater Part of the channel is altered by reforestation of pines and the presence of avenues planted to give shade.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] What to see in the Quéntar Church of the Incarnation S.XVI, popular festivals of Moors and Christians, hot springs (70 years), trekking routes and btt, birth white water river.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”3.
